The Beaufort Wine & Food Festival
The Beaufort Food & Wine Festival is a multi-day festival – offering not only the best wine festival on the East coast but also many intimate wine dinners and experiences for each and every personality! Each event is priced differently and sold as separate tickets. This festival is truly an experience and is totally worth the drive! You can read more about what to do in the Beaufort area in my “Ideas for a Coastal Getaway in NC” blog post.
Who does it?
The Beaufort Food & Wine Festival is a collaborative effort between 21 different wine distributors and local wineries, 6 different spirit vendors, and 30 local culinary vendors. The Beaufort Food & Wine Organization is a local non-profit which gives back to the community and local charities. This year, proceeds went towards Beaufort Food & Wine’s $100,000 pledge towards Carteret Community College’s new Culinary and Hospitality Building and their $50,000 pledge towards the Salvation Army’s new kitchen.
The Main Event
The first festival event that we attended was the “Vin de Mer Culinary Village.” This is simply a fancy name for the main event, which is the true “Food & Wine Festival.” We parked at the NC Maritime Museum in downtown Beaufort and rode the public trolley over to the festival. Inside the festival tent was a vast variety of delicious wines and mouth-watering foods. Cooking demonstrations also took place on the main stage throughout the day.
Historic Wine Walkabout
The second festival event that we attended was the “Historic Wine Walkabout.” In this incredibly unique event, guests walk throughout the town, gathering in and around a variety of local historic homes where you get to enjoy a different food and wine pairing at each house. There were four different houses to enjoy a variety of pairings created by local chefs, and the night ended with champagne and dessert!
